ACTORS SIGNED

Orlando confirmed He Will Return as Legolas

Peter Jackson reported on Facebook that Orlando Bloom will reprieve his role as Legolas in the Hobbit. Orlando went through intense training while filming The Lord of the Ring movies. He trained in fighting and of course horse riding. He pulled off a great performance in the three films. He mostly rode the big white draft horse with Gimili riding along with him, and we are bond to see him pull off some great riding skills in The Hobbit. We not only have just seen him ride in the LOTR movies, but in others. The LOTR films helped him to a great career and prepared him for great horse roles to come like Troy, Kingdom of Heaven, and Ned Kelly where riding a horse was crucial.

I look forward to Orland returning to Middle Earth and hoping back on a horse.

HORSES AND MUSIC

Beyonce and the Black Friesian

Beyonces new song "Who Runs the World (girls)" was probably one of her worst singles. The tune is annoying and the lyrics are awful, however her music video is a real eye catcher. It has one of hollywoods most eye catching equine actor the Friesian. The video has a handful of animals in it from lions to hyena's. When I worked on Evan Almighty i was informed that there was only one working hyena in the business and in the video Beyonce walks two of them on a leash, and from what I can see she is not actually walking them its two film plates they where both filmed seperatly.

A lot of the Blogs are saying Beyonce looked so poised and flawless on the horse well I think otherwise. Although the horse looked like he hit every mark and of course she did do good considering. when the video starts out she is riding the horse through a desert like setting with a tight camera angle trailing her. She then walks the horse into frame and rears him. It looks amazing, however from a horse standpoint she looks scared. She covers it great but I definitly see it. As she rides the horse she is holding the reins in her right hand and griping the saddle with her left. People that hold the horn fear they will fall off. In the rear she also points her toes that are in the stirrup down, and her legs are far back. Someone that does this has a fear of falling off as well.

Aside from the critique I give her props for doing it. It takes a lot of guts to something like that, so you go girl. Also I would like to praise the horse for his performance. Its hard for some animals to perform when the rider or trainer has no experience. That's what makes them Equine actors.

HOBBIT NEWS

Roll Sound, Roll Camera and Action on The Hobbit

The Hobbit is in production in New Zealand, and filming at all the original sound stages that The Lord of The Rings filmed on. Just like LOTR's did, The Hobbit makes everything as real as possible. So all actors go through a training bootcamp for horses. In the video below you will see what type of team it takes to bring something like this to the silver screen. The movie will be broken up into two parts. The films will follow Bilbo Baggins and his friends on a journey to reclaim the treasure taken by the dragon Smaug.

The equine actors in The LOTR's movies gave superb performances. The trainers worked very hard to bring the characters to life that J.R.R Tolkien created, like Shadowfax and Bergo. The Hobbit will hopefully do the same as Peter Jackson has decided to reprieve his role as Director along with Fran Walsh and Philippa Boyens to write it. At one point Guillermo del Toro was set to direct it, but now he is co-writing it with the girls. All the original cast will reprieve their roles, except for Martin Freeman who takes the title role of Bilbo Baggins. Ian McKellen returns as the great Gandalf the Grey, and Kate Blanchett will return as Galadriel. Elijah Wood, Andy Serkis, Orlando Bloom, and Christopher Lee will all return to play their original characters. Ian Holm who played Bilbo in the LOTR films will make an appearance as old Bilbo in the Hobbit.

The Dwarves are played by Richard Armitage (Thorin Oakenshield), Ken Stott (Balin), Graham McTavish (Dwalin), William Kircher (Bifur) James Nesbitt (Bofur), Stephen Hunter (Bombur), Rob Kazinsky (Fili), Aidan Turner (Kili), Peter Hambleton (Gloin), John Callen (Oin), Jed Brophy (Nori), Mark Hadlow (Dori) and Adam Brown (Ori). Jeffrey Thomas and Mike Mizrahi also join the cast as Dwarf Kings Thror and Thrain.

Movie is set to release for the first installment in December 2012 and will be in 3D

HORSES TO WATCH FOR

The Prequel to The Wizard of Oz

Oz, The Great and Powerful follows in the footsteps of Wicked. We get to go before Dorthy hit the yellow brick road in her red shoes and see how the Wizard of Oz really came upon the kingdom of Oz. The film will take us back to when Oz was a Circus wrangler in Omaha. When a balloon accident brings him to the world of Oz. This is where he gets mistaken as a know-it-all and labeled the Wizard of Oz.

Walt Disney will bring this prequel to life. James Franco is set to play the infamous Oz, and Mila Kunis will play the witch Theodora. Late Spiderman director Sam Raimi is set to direct it. Michelle Williams is also casted in the film and will play Glinda the Good Witch and Rachel Weisz will play Evanora. Robert Downey Jr. and Johnny Depp were both offered the roles in the early stages but eventually they went with Franco.

Although filming hasn't started and no set stills yet this is a film to watch for some equine actors. Like the Wizard of Oz there was the infamous Horse of a different color. He played a role that isn't forgotten by the Equine actor fans.
